¡Baylado! - Music of Renaissance Spain

Passionate. Mysterious. Seductive.

These words belong to the world of Spanish music, where restless Arabic rhythms collide with European melody to produce one of the world's most beloved and widely influential musical styles.

Espania. Birthplace of guitars and the unforgettable vocal style that earns its name - Canto Jondo, deep song.

Soul searching, searing vocals tell tales of love lost and found, of the heart and history of the Iberian people and their struggle. Powerful, driving dance melodies soar above the insistent and irresistible rhythms of life lived boldly. Restless and intricate, the guitars and vihuelas thread their way through song and dance, rooting the music in the deep south of Spain, Andalusia, birthplace of Flamenco. They are joined by traditional winds, percussion and string instruments to weave a rich tapestry reflecting the diverse influences that have blended to produce the cloth of Spanish culture.
